Bloke threatens BT with giant plywood cheque • The Register

David wrote to the El Reg consumer affairs department explaining that a couple of years back he noticed he was being charged £4.50 a pop for paying his phone bills online. This, he suggests, actually costs the telco nothing, so why the charge?

Can we do this in Canada? Anyone?

It used to be that you could deposit a non-standard cheque, but would be hit with a fee for doing so ($5.00, I think?). When the Canadian Payments Association changed the standard cheque form a few years back, I think non-standard cheques became non-negotiable. (the point of the change was to allow cheques to be scanned and presented in electronic form .. though that project was eventually abandoned)
